About comments.

This post isn't about Neil Gaiman. This is about the site itself.

You may have noticed that I've allowed commenting on the site. You may have even left a comment. But, then you noticed that it's not appearing. You think there was a glitch, so you leave another comment. But, that comment doesn't appear, either. So, you leave a whole bunch of comments, hoping that one of them will finally appear.

Meanwhile, I'm over here yelling at the idiot who's now posted the same comment over 150 times. Now I have to delete the same comment 150 times.

While I do allow commenting on the site, I do not allow any of them to appear. I delete most of them, but I do keep a few of them that require me to contact the commenter, but I don't allow these to appear on the site, either. Once I have made the required contact, I delete those comments, since they weren't for the public. 

Why do I do this? Because 95% of the comments left on this site are inappropriate. Many of them are threats made to Neil Gaiman and even his family. This is absolutely disgusting. Why would these idiots think it's okay to threaten Mr. Gaiman and his family? Some of the worst comments also targeted Mr. Gaiman's youngest son, who is a MINOR! What is wrong with these people? Why are you threatening a MINOR? I may not be a member of the Gaiman family, but I will protect them to the best of my ability.

Once people started realizing that Mr. Gaiman has nothing to do with this site, they started coming for me. On one particularly bad day, I received hundreds of comments from these psychos wishing not just death threats to me, but also rape threats. In case I haven't made it clear, I'm a survivor of both rape and abuse. I will NOT tolerate someone making rape threats to me. Why do you think it's okay to threaten me with death and rape?

I've also had demands from these idiots to reveal who I am. Yeah, sure, you threaten to kill me and rape me and you really think I'm going to reveal who I am? Nope! That is NEVER happening! I suspect that the demands for me to reveal who I am is to "ruin" my career. They probably think that they can "cancel" me because I support Mr. Gaiman. Here's something that will make your head spin - writing isn't my main career! It's something that I do on the side! My real career is in business. So, no, you're not going to "ruin" my writing career or "cancel" me.

Those are the majority of the comments that are left on this site. I will never allow any of them to appear.

Now, there's a few comments where someone needs to talk to me, but in a private manner. Or they want permission to use my articles. They leave their contact information for me and I get in touch with them. I also delete those comments, because they are not for the public to see.

I will probably never allow comments to appear on the site. Unless it is a positive comment that says good things about Mr. Gaiman. I want Mr. Gaiman to see good things, so if you leave a decent comment about Mr. Gaiman, I will publish it. Those are the only comments that will ever appear on this site (nice, good, positive comments about Neil Gaiman).
